“Are you weary, carrying a heavy burden? Then come to me. I will refresh your life, for I am your oasis. Simply join your life with mine. Learn my ways and you’ll discover that I’m gentle, humble, easy to please. You will find refreshment and rest in me.For all that I require of you will be pleasant and easy to bear.”[ Matthew 11:28 TPT
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.
“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways,
And My thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8
One Sunday evening, after a beautiful time of worship, I settled in to watch my home team play in the World Series. The Spirit of the Lord began to rest upon me and I heard Him say, “Come away with Me”. His sweet presence filled my longing heart with more excitement than a World Series game ever could. It was as if my lover were beckoning me – “There is more for you. Come and see.”
A few nights later, when my team was about to lose, I received a sweet vision of Jesus laughing. All night, I couldn’t shake it even after my team’s loss. Again, Jesus was there in my mind’s eye with absolute joy, beckoning me to join Him. It seemed like a funny time for Him to share His laughter with me, so why now? Why was He being so persistent at this particular moment? As I pondered with Him, I realized that this had nothing to do with the baseball game, but that He was using this moment to show me that I am always invited to rise up, to come away with Him, and see things from His perspective.
Our journey in life is simply to know Jesus and to come away with Him, so that we can see His perspective on everything in our lives – our family, friends, work, ministry, trials, hardships, joys, and gifts. He is always saying, “Come away with Me and I will show you what I see.”
For 8 weeks, beginning January 23, I will be teaching out of my book, Journey: Walking into the Heart of Jesus. It will be a time of worship and encounter where we will draw close to Jesus and learn to hear from God in ways we have never known. We will see what God is doing and we will partner with Him and see where He is leading. It doesn’t matter where you are on your journey, you are welcome. We need each other to see the fullness of Jesus.
For the next few weeks, we will be sharing peoples’ journeys in to the heart of Jesus. My prayer is that they will inspire you and draw you close to Jesus.
Jesus is calling us. Are we listening? Will we respond?
